Septic Systems

Your Septic System

Everything that goes down a drain goes to the septic tank (i.e. doing a load of laundry; taking a bath; using the restroom). The liquids are constantly being dispersed throughout the drainfield & absorbed into the soil. The solids accumulate inside of the septic tank & should be emptied every 3 years depending on how active your home is.

It is normal to pump a tank on Monday & for it to appear to be “full” in just a couple of weeks. Remember, only the solids stay in the tank. When a drainfield is in failure, the liquid can no longer be adequately dispersed & the septic tank begins to act like a cup. With nowhere for the liquid to go, you will eventually have a backup inside and/or outside of the home.

Because the ultimate product ends up back in our waterways it is important to maintain your system properly.

Residential drainfields have a lifespan of ~20 years (with proper maintenance) and the cost of replacement can range anywhere from $3,500-$15,000+. This is why you should always have a septic inspection before purchasing a home.

Give Brandon Septic a call to maintain, inspect, or repair your system today!

  • A "lift station" may be required if the drain field is located far away from the septic tank or if the topography of the area makes the septic tank sit lower than the drain field. This tank is located in between the septic tank and the drain field and has a control unit (alarm) and submersible pump that forces the wastewater out to the drainfield.

Septic Pumping

Our experts provide maintenance and repair of all parts of your Brandon, FL septic system, including the septic pump.

If your home or business is in a rural area, you may need to install a septic tank to process waste and water that comes through all drains and toilets. Septic systems are self-contained and can process and store water and waste produced by your family or employees. Instead of relying on the main sewer line to transport waste to a sewage processing plant, a septic system uses chemicals and natural types of bacteria to break down waste, and then release the clean water back into the ground below. This method is effective and reliable, as long as you keep the system well-maintained and avoid flushing large items down your drains or toilets that could cause clogs.

Septic Tanks, Brandon, FL

We Are Your Local Experts on Septic Tanks in Brandon, Plant City, East Tampa, & Seffner, FL.

If your home or business is not on the public sewer system, how do you get rid of the waste that accumulates? At Brandon Septic, we can install and maintain the septic tanks on your property that are used to get rid of the water and waste associated with doing dishes, flushing toilets, doing laundry, and more. It may sound like a pain at first to have a private septic tank instead of a public sewer system, but it’s actually advantageous for several reasons. Here are just a few of the benefits of septic tanks:

  • Efficient and Cost-Effective - First, septic systems are an effective way to treat waste water on your own property. Unlike public sewer systems where waste water is taken away to be treated, the water you use in your own home will be cleaned and recycled right under your own feet.  While this has many environmental benefits, it can also save you money! If you used the public sewer system to get rid of the waste water in your home, you would be charged for this service on a monthly basis. With a septic system, you will never have to pay this fee again.

  • Fertile Soil - Are you an avid gardener who wants to turn your back or front yard into a beautiful oasis? Since septic tanks allow for water to be naturally absorbed into the ground, the moisture from this water never leaves your home, and your land constantly keeps moisture on-site. Because of this, the land surrounding your septic system is a prime area for a variety of different plants to grow and thrive. Having a little extra moisture in your back or front yard may even save you on your water bill every month because you won’t have to turn on your sprinkler system as often or spend hours out in your yard with the hose watering your plants.

  • Environmentally Friendly - In addition to providing fertile soil, septic tanks are also an environmentally friendly option when compared with traditional sewer systems. For instance, when using a public sewer system, you run the risk of large raw sewage discharges coming back into your home from treatment plants. With septic tanks, you will never encounter this problem. The pipes that run underground as part of a public sewer system often start to corrode and leak untreated water back into the ground before it reaches the treatment plant. This untreated sewage water can harm and contaminate local groundwater. With a septic system, you will never have to worry about this happening because all of your home’s water is treated on-site.

At Brandon Septic, we are your local experts on septic tanks in Brandon, Plant City, East Tampa, & Seffner, Florida. We can install a new septic tank for you or repair or pump out the waste from the septic tank you currently have.  If you have any questions about our septic tank services or if you would like to learn more about the advantages that come with using a septic system, feel free to give us a call!

Your Septic System

Everything that goes down a drain goes to the septic tank (i.e. doing a load of laundry; taking a bath; using the restroom). The liquids are constantly being dispersed throughout the drainfield & absorbed below ground into the soil. The solids (poop) accumulate inside of the septic tank & should be emptied every 3 years depending on how active your home is.

It is normal to pump a tank on Monday & for it to appear to be “full” the following week. Tanks operate on full. Remember, only the solids accumulate in the tank. Once the liquid level reaches the outlet pipe to the drainfield it exits the tank and is dispersed throughout the field.

When a drainfield is in failure, the liquid can no longer be adequately dispersed and the septic tank begins to act like a cup. With nowhere for the liquid to go, you will eventually have a backup inside and/or outside of the home. Additionally, the waste can begin to rise to the surface of the ground above the drainfield instead of going below as it is designed to do. In this instance, you may notice an area of your yard that is greener and more lush than the surrounding areas. Just because a system is in failure doesn't mean you will have any issues inside of your home, instead it could be negatively impacting the environment as a whole.

Because the ultimate product ends up back in our waterways it is important to maintain your system properly and not allow the solids (poop) to accumulate enough that it begins to enter the drainfield.

Residential drainfields have a lifespan of 20-30 years (with proper maintenance) and the cost of replacement can range anywhere from $5,500-$15,000+. This is why you should always have a septic inspection before purchasing a home.

*A "lift station" may be required if the drain field is located far away from the septic tank or if the topography of the area makes the septic tank sit lower than the drain field.
